Banned Book Speakeasy
April 21, 2026 until April 25, 2026
For its third edition, The Study at Morrison House once again invites you into our best-kept secret…
Our shelves are filling back up—and so is our cocktail menu—with banned books that have sparked conversation for generations. As a haven for storytelling, we continue to celebrate the power of the written word while giving back to the libraries that keep these stories alive.
What began as a hidden escape for literary lovers has quickly become a favorite tradition. We’re opening the door once more to our intimate, book-lined speakeasy—where forbidden stories inspire every sip.
This season, we’ve reimagined our menu with a new collection of cocktails, each influenced by some of the most iconic—and challenged—books in the U.S. Curious which made the list? You’ll have to step inside to find out. Explore beyond the books and cocktails with our limited food menu featuring some of our favorites from The Study's restaurant menu.
As always, the space will come alive with live piano music, setting the tone for an evening steeped in ambiance and intrigue. Settle in beside the glow of the fireplace, lose yourself in a well-worn novel, or gather with fellow book lovers over thoughtfully crafted drinks.
Your $2 timed entry ticket is donated fully to the Virginia Library Association in support of local libraries and librarians. Last year, we were able to raise almost $4,500! If you're interested in additional donations, visit the link to support the Virginia Library Association's Librarian of Color Forum Award, LGBTQIA+ Forum Fund, Scholarship Fund, and more!
Whether you’re returning for another chapter or discovering us for the first time, this is your invitation to indulge in stories that refuse to be silenced.
