The Restricted Collection: A Banned Book Speakeasy

November 10, 2026 until November 14, 2026

The shelves have been restocked, the cocktails are being poured, and a new chapter is ready to be unlocked.

This November, The Study at Morrison House invites you back into our best-kept secret for a new edition of our Banned Books Speakeasy: The Restricted Collection.

As a haven for storytelling, The Study celebrates the freedom to read and the power of the written word while supporting the libraries and librarians who keep stories accessible to their communities.

Step inside our hidden library and discover familiar books with unexpected histories. Through imaginative cocktails, food, live piano music, and immersive storytelling, explore why books across generations have been challenged, restricted, or removed, and decide for yourself what deserves a place on your reading list.

Which familiar books have faced challenges or restrictions? You'll have to step inside to discover their stories.

Settle in beside the glow of the fireplace, lose yourself in a well-worn novel, or gather with fellow book lovers over thoughtfully crafted drinks and a limited menu featuring favorites from The Study.

Timed-entry tickets are $12 per person, with $5 from every ticket donated directly to the Virginia Library Association in support of libraries and librarians across Virginia. Food and beverages are available for purchase separately.

Whether you're returning to our hidden library or discovering us for the first time, consider this your invitation to read, discover, and decide for yourself.
